Manal Rostom aka Egypt’s most prominent marathoner & female mountaineer is someone who has achieved many firsts for Arab & Egyptian women.
About Me
On May 16th , 2022, she made history as the First Egyptian Woman to Climb Mt. Everest.
On March 5th 2023 , Manal also made history as the First Egyptian woman to complete the 6 World Marathon Majors.
She is also the first Egyptian woman to climb Mt Kosciusko in Australia in 2023, Island Peak & Louche in the Himalayas in 2022 , Mont Blanc in 2018 & run The Great Wall of China Marathon in 2016.
She’s most famous for being Nike’s first Hijabi Athlete & Ambassador & the Founder of Surviving Hijab.

In 2020 she was named “Africa’s top 50 most powerful women” by Forbes Africa.
In 2021 she made the Arabian Business Power List of Women of Influence in the Arab World 2021.
Nike Ambassador
Manal is the first Hijabi athlete to model in a Nike Running Campaign in 2015 & First Arab to be featured in an Audio Guided Run on the Global Nike Run Club App in 2018.
Manal also became the Global face of the Nike Pro Hijab in March 2017.
She starred in Nike’s Dream Crazier Campaign in 2019 and Nike’s Swim Victory swimsuit campaign in 2020.

Dreams & Aspirations
After Summiting Mount Everest and completing the 6 World Marathon Majors as the First Egyptian Woman, Manal dreams to become the first Egyptian Woman to complete the 7 summits (7 highest mountains on every continent).
With a social media following of over 300,000 followers from all around the world, she hopes to continue smashing stereotypes by going against the norm and standing up for all women, to spread positive messages about tolerance & inclusivity, one mountain and one marathon at a time.
She is often invited internationally to share her story online & offline; her biggest crowd to date was in March 2018, when she spoke to 5000 people at Facebook’s Global Marketing & Sales conference in San Francisco, California.
Community & Women’s Rights Activism
Manal is the founder of the renowned Facebook Group: Surviving Hijab, a one – million, women’s-only, closed group on Facebook that helps defy stereotypes and empower women who choose to wear the hijab as a sign of faith.
The group was awarded the Facebook’s Community Leadership Award by Facebook in 2019, after being recognised as one of the largest groups on Facebook currently present to shatter stereotypes, support minorities and underrepresented communities worldwide.
Manal led an all – women Everest Base Camp trip in March 2019 and Mt Kilimanjaro Hike in August 2021 to raise awareness about tolerance, inclusivity & equality for all women.
